Understanding Salik: A Quick, Hassle-Free Guide for Your Dubai Journey
At A1 Golden, we want your luxury car rental experience to be as smooth as the cars you drive. If you’re new to Dubai, you might wonder: What is Salik, and how does it affect my rental? Let’s break it down simply and politely!

Salik (“toll gate” in Arabic) is Dubai’s automated toll system designed to streamline traffic flow across key routes. Think of it as a contactless way to pay for using certain highways and bridges—no stopping, no cash, just seamless travel.
How Does It Work with Your A1 Golden Rental?
When you rent a car from us, our vehicles are equipped with a Salik tag (a small electronic device on the windshield). Every time you pass through a Salik toll gate, the system automatically records the toll.
Here’s the best part:
No upfront fees or hassle: You don’t pay for Salik during your rental.
Transparent billing: At the end of your trip, we’ll calculate the total Salik charges based on the toll gates you crossed.
Easy payment: Simply settle the amount along with your rental balance—no surprises, no hidden costs.
Why Do We Charge Salik Separately?
Since Salik fees depend on your specific route and toll gates crossed during your rental period, we calculate them post-trip to ensure fairness. This way, you only pay for what you use!
A Quick Example
If you drive from Downtown Dubai to Dubai Marina, you might pass through 2 Salik gates (AED 5 each). Your total Salik charge would be AED 10, added to your final invoice.
Your Convenience Matters Most
We know toll systems can feel confusing in a new city, so we handle all the details for you. Just focus on enjoying your luxury ride—we’ll take care of the rest!
